I'll listen to stuff from the 2000's and beyond. Some of it I'll even search out at work to listen to, but usually I'll just listen if its playing and that's it. Most of my bands started in the 90's when I grew up, because that's the sound I like. I did gradually begin liking the heavier stuff more, but have been known to backtrack in heaviness to stuff such as even The Counting Crows, Gin Blossoms, Nirvana, hell Blues Traveler anyone?

Though I wouldn't pinpoint specifically any artist or band as my main influence, I did start playing guitar around the same time I was into bands like Nirvana and The Offspring, so you can at least draw my inspirations to play from bands like that who were more catchy but still fun/heavy.

In high school I picked up on Metal/Industrial and stuff like that. More specifically the metal bands weren't the Pantera/Metallica "asshole" bands, but instead more like the dystopian futuristic themed Fear Factory or the vampire-spooky themed "Type O Negative." The majority of my soundtrack inspiration I can honestly admit is drawn from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, also known as Nine Inch Nails itself, alongside his live line-up band, since I'm kind of doing the same thing.
